Ambient music - or just Ambient - relies heavily, but not excusively, on synthesizers. It is a genre that is very well suited to Indie composers, like me.
I started out with the Yamaha PS-10 (a white one, as I recall), soon to upgrade to the Casio SK1.
By now, I have a lot more tools at my disposal...
The workflow is pretty simple. I find a story to tell. Then, I craft the sounds to tell that story. I play some patterns in a DAW, or write down music (yes, pencil and paper) depending on the project. A mixdown concludes the music creation...
